About Greg McClanahan

I wrote this book because I felt a great pull to share what I had grown to understand after searching for ways that I could help improve the successful outcomes for my employees.  I discovered many helpful ideas along the way but I had no idea where that journey of discovery would surprisingly and ultimately take me.  What I discovered over a span of three decades changed the way I look at the world and how I operate in it.  I have written this book with the hope that what I learned will help each reader move through life with more surety, to replace what might be an uncertain direction with certainty and to know how you can achieve the outcomes you desire in your life.  My hope is that your pathway to success will be much shorter than mine.   

In the midst of my search for direction in my business and in my desire to help my employees, I had a son in high school that was struggling in a course being taught by a new student teacher.  My son received an 'F' in the class.  I had attended every student teacher conference and followed up to see what we could do to help from home.  I felt that this teacher had qualified himself through his degree but his training did not seem to have given him the tools to succeed at student relationships and knowing how to inspire his students.  At that point, I had a choice to either complain and do nothing or I could try to do something that might help achieve a greater chance for successful outcomes in our classrooms.  

I incorporated what I had learned in business and what I had learned in all my research and passed it along to the schools in our district in a weekly blog type messages.  After some time passed, a principal asked if I could get the material I was sending out structured into a continuing education course.  He thought that this would allow his teachers to get license renewing credit for their participation.  I worked to create a course and it was ultimately approved by a local university.       

While I did some work locally through teacher inservice meetings and other platforms as time allowed, I believed that there were people that I would never be able to meet or know that could benefit from my discoveries.  I decided to use the coursework content and pull my ideas together into a book.  From the initial publishing of the first edition to this second edition, I believe you'll find insights that will change how you will look at the world and how you will operate in it as well.

I deeply want to help others move through life with more surety.  Youth and young professionals truly capture my heart because those were the ages of my children when I first started writing and those are the ages where some of the most significant life decisions must be made.  I'd love nothing more than to have The law of the Harvest and The Law of the Yield in the minds and hearts of our youth at those decision crossroads to provide direction and confidence.   

My education, my business experience as both an employee and an owner, my privilege of being a son to wonderful parents, a husband to an amazing wife, father and now grandfather to remarkable children are all captured in these pages.  I hope my love for you -- each reader -- is felt and that you know my desire is that this book will help you find surety in your decisions and success in your future.
